The weekly hour I spent with the volunteer gave me a very useful tool for the duration of my imprisonment. A tool for balancing the pressures, the sensations and the very active thoughts that bubble inside me while I’m here. Every day at sunrise I practiced what we had learned in the weekly meeting, and implementing this lesson gave me a space where I could stay present in reality, and received an “armor of quietude” that became my real breakfast in this place. The workshop really helps with the element of self-control, the lack of which was a very dominant factor in what brought me here, but it will also prevent me from returning here and help me return to a normative life.
